Jesus

Everything we do points to Jesus.

We create immersive experiences because we want to point all sorts of people to Jesus. We seek to restore relationships, love others and serve because Jesus set that example for us.

Everything we do comes out of our desire to follow the greatest commandment that Jesus gave us—to love God and love others. When we get this right, we help people experience unconditional love and care for one another through the lens of Jesus Christ.

Multi-Denominational

We seek to serve every part of the body of Christ.

With Jesus at our center, we believe in supporting all the ways that God is at work in every part of the body of Christ, which includes a broad spectrum of Christian denominations. Because of this, Border Perspective intentionally operates as a multi-denominational organization and we invite people from every Christian denomination to join us.

We want to emphasize that while you are on a Border Perspective trip, you may be exposed to Christian practices, theological, doctrinal and spiritual beliefs from our community partners and church partners which could be very different from yours. We believe these encounters can be turned into teachable moments for your group and we created Church Group Time at the end of each day so that you can intentionally help your group process all they’ve seen, heard, and experienced. This is an incredible time for meaningful conversations with your group about their own beliefs and convictions. We believe these interactions are vital steps in personal faith-formation.

History

Border Perspective provides educational border trips and uses gallery-like exhibits, written stories, and artist talks to challenge beliefs and understanding about a complex and tumultuous region of our country.

Border Perspective started as an exploration trip along the U.S. and Mexico border, showcasing real stories of the people who live there. In early 2017, Yonathan and Jordan Moya took a 9-day photographic journey along the border, traversing almost 2,000 miles through the southern states of Texas, New Mexico, Arizona and California.

The Moya brothers have lived most of their adult lives in the Midwest, but they grew up on the border. Yet, despite their upbringing, they realized they didn't know everything about life on the border.

The purpose of their initial trip was to gain and share a fuller perspective on what life on the border is really like. They had no agenda—only to document life on the border and learn by listening to the perspectives of the people who live there. As they took part in different dialogues, they embraced a fuller understanding of the place they still call “home.”
