U.S. AND MEXICO BORDER

CRISIS RESPONSE

Together with YouthWorks, we are organizing a response to support migrant shelters that are being overwhelmed by vulnerable families navigating a lawful immigration process.

A massive influx of migrants has created a humanitarian crisis at the southern border. While the majority of the migrant population is currently not allowed to begin an immigration process right now, there are a significant number of individuals and families approved by the Department of Homeland Security to pursue a lawful immigration process in the U.S. These individuals and families are being held in shelters all along the southern border as they begin their lawful processing. (Read Homeland Security Press Release).

Unfortunately, the shelters established to care for those individuals and families are being overwhelmed and there is no current sign of the need subsiding.

With that in mind, YouthWorks and Border Perspective are organizing Border Crisis Response Teams to serve immediately in migrant shelters at the South Texas Border. Working closely with shelter staff, we’ve been able to identify tangible ways to mobilize volunteers to offer critical relief and are inviting you to join us in this crisis response.

Here’s a video from our Executive Director, Yonathan Moya sharing about the need and why we are choosing to respond:
